The first round of the FIA European Truck Racing Series will take place at the Donington Park Circuit this Easter Bank Holiday weekend, 23 and 24 April 2011. Renault Trucks is the main sponsor of this exciting UK industry event, which marks the return of the FIA series to the UK, after a significant absence.
In addition to the FIA European Truck Racing, the Donington event will provide entertainment for all the family, with support races, parades, paddock shows and a variety of stalls and children’s entertainment, making it a great day out for anybody that wants to enjoy some fun and excitement both on and off track over the Easter holiday weekend.
Teams from all over Europe will be travelling to the UK to compete at the historic Donington Park Circuit and a full grid is expected.
Entrants will include MKR Technology, the Renault Trucks supported team, which won the FIA European Truck Racing team championship prize in 2010, in its first year of competition. The team is hoping to get its season off to a cracking start at Donington to defend its crown for a second year!
“Renault Trucks has worked closely with MKR Technology to develop some of the best race trucks available on the circuit and this was evidenced by their team championship win last year,” comments Marc Martinez, Managing Director of Renault Trucks UK Ltd. “The race trucks encompass the best of Renault Trucks technology, in terms of high performance engines and components. Along with the highly skilled drivers and team support provided by MKR Technology, this has produced a winning solution that perfectly demonstrates the strength and power of our brand.”
Marc continues, “This first event of the FIA truck racing season at Donington is about more than Renault Trucks and MKR Technology. It’s an industry event that will bring together trucks from many makes and racing enthusiasts from across Europe. We are proud to be the main sponsors of this event and will be working hard with our network to ensure we maximise the opportunities around the racing to build the Renault Trucks brand in the UK market.”
Support races for the event will include Pickup Trucks, Legends Cars and the Protyre Formula Renault BARC Championship.
Paddock entertainment will include the 2010 world champion Elvis impersonator, Ben Portsmouth, who will be performing shows on the Saturday and Sunday.
